IstatData: the new platform for the dissemination of aggregated data, created through the collaboration between Almaviva and Istat with the participation of Almawave and SisTer

Istat has published the new platform for the dissemination of aggregated data (IstatData), which in the coming months will completely replace the I.Stat system. More than 50% of the content (over 1 billion records) has been migrated to the new system, totaling around 250 datasets from various statistical domains.

IstatData was developed thanks to the longstanding collaboration between Almaviva and Istat, with the participation of Almawave and SisTer, active in the development of solutions and projects in the fields of Data Science, Open Data Analytics, Spatial Intelligence, and Decision Support System platforms.

Valeria Sandei, CEO of Almawave, commented: “Direct access to Italian statistics and the open availability of data for reuse align with the interoperability model outlined in the Three-Year Plan for IT in Public Administration. Technological solutions enabling collaboration between entities and third parties ensure interaction, information exchange, and the development of new applications and services for PA users, allowing access to public information. As a group, we are proud to be a partner in the initiative and the digital transformation and transparency process of public administration.”

The project, implemented using the ‘Istat SDMX Toolkit,’ as part of the digital innovation activities planned by the Public Connectivity System (modeling, designing, and implementing interoperability solutions for data – Linked Data/Open Data/Big Data), involves the use of the international SDMX standard for the publication and exchange of statistical data and information.

IstatData is enriched with graphs, maps, and interactive dashboards with the possibility of direct “machine-to-machine” querying through web services. The software used to implement the IStatData portal, Data browser, and MDM, are provided by the Institute for reuse by all public administration entities.

The expertise gained by the Almawave group in this field allows them to support interested entities in the open data-driven transformation process of public administration
