Valeria Sandei speaks at "AI Transition 2025"
2 December 2025
“We are now aware that AI is a strategic resource, but the real foundation it is built on is human capital. Without skills, AI cannot come to fruition: the challenge of developing technologies that evolve every day depends on people, human intelligence, and expertise,” said Valeria Sandei at AI Transition 2025, the event taking place today in Turin, focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on businesses.
“We collaborate with several universities, which allows us to combine the production of scalable technology as a company with conducting research. The ultimate challenge is in the market. Italy’s system must believe in Italian technology, and the first step for companies producing Italian AI to grow is for businesses to truly believe in it.”
Can Italian companies be competitive in the field of AI?
“Yes, provided there are both Italian and European players capable of looking at global markets as well. It’s not just the USA and China: there are fast-growing markets like Latin America, Africa, and India.
Adopting AI doesn’t simply mean pressing a button. It means understanding the context, adapting the technology’s functionalities to industrial and sector needs, and turning AI theory into practical reality.
Today, our challenge is not competing with large consumer models but responding accurately to the needs of public administrations and companies. Our smaller models, such as the 24-billion-parameter one, offer optimal performance with a focus on efficiency and sustainability, running even on a single GPU,” Sandei concluded.
