Valeria Sandei on stage at the States General of Innovation

Forum PA

13 May 2025

The General States of Innovation are back, the event that puts digital and the future at the center, organized by Il Sole 24 Ore. Among the main topics addressed by experts, industrial leaders, and policymakers were the relationship between humans and machines in light of the European AI Act and U.S. deregulation, the impact on productive sectors and the labor market, and the growing need for training and education.

If you’re European, you know you’re operating within a framework that includes various regulations, certifications, and rules. Not just the AI Act. Rules and standards created to build a shared legal framework. Once this framework is established, it must be translated into good practices, clarity, and equal rules.”

These are the words of Valeria Sandei, CEO of Almawave, during the panel “AI Governance: the European model vs. U.S. deregulation?”, moderated by Luca De Biase, journalist at Il Sole 24 Ore. Other speakers included Brando Benifei, MEP and Rapporteur for the AI Act, and Ruben Razzante, Professor of Information Law, European Information Law, and Corporate Communication Regulations at the Catholic University of Milan.

In this context, the healthiest kind of competition can emerge. At the European level, as everyone knows, there are also challenges regarding infrastructure, skills, and data. Our challenge is to aim for lean and effective use of technology.
