Valeria Sandei on stage at Disclaimer – the Corriere della Sera project

It’s called Velvet 25B, and it’s our new language model with 25 billion parameters, dedicated to the 24 official languages of the European Union. Its goal is to make artificial intelligence more independent from Big Tech, financially accessible, sustainable, and—above all—capable of responding more concretely to citizens’ everyday needs, especially in their complex relationship with Public Administration and healthcare institutions.
Yesterday, at the University of Padua, during the fourth stage of Disclaimer, our CEO Valeria Sandei took the stage in an interview with Riccardo Luna.
“Velvet,” said Sandei, “aims to overcome the Anglocentric approach that characterizes many global models, managing complex texts while maintaining low energy consumption. Among its application fields, healthcare stands out: it will simplify appointment management, significantly reduce waiting times, and enhance telemedicine by providing doctors and patients with high-quality data to plan specific interventions.”
