AI and work: Valeria Sandei guest at the Ministry of Labor event

“AI and Work: Governing Transformation, Multiplying Opportunities” – the event organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, in collaboration with INPS and INAIL, took place in Rome on February 27.
It was a day of European and international dialogue, opening with an address by Minister of Labor Marina Calderone and featuring participation from institutions, companies, and scholars to share visions, strategies, and experiences, fostering an open discussion on the opportunities and responsibilities that Artificial Intelligence brings.
Among the objectives was to outline a path that increasingly puts people at the center of innovation, strengthening protections and creating new opportunities for growth.
Valeria Sandei, CEO of Almawave, took part in the panel “Beyond the Present: Scenarios, Skills, and Innovation for the Changing World of Work,” moderated by Monica Giandotti – RAI – Radiotelevisione Italiana, sharing a clear reflection: Artificial Intelligence is not just the automation of repetitive tasks, but profoundly transforms cognitive work and the way value is created and distributed. The real challenge for Italy and Europe is skills sovereignty: not merely implementing technologies produced abroad, but leading their development.
Other panel speakers included Francesca Rossi, AI Ethics Global Leader – IBM; Mario Nobile, Director General – AGID (Agency for Digital Italy); Andrea Billet, Head of Certification Services – National Cybersecurity Agency; and Francesco Maria Chelli, President – ISTAT.
