The 3rd meeting of International Forum Italy-Africa strategic plan “Piano Mattei” “Let’s grow together” recently concluded in Rome. The event focused on collaboration between Italy and Africa with the goal of promoting shared sustainable development.
During the meeting, our International Business Director, Franco Martino, highlighted Almawave’s commitment to developing innovative solutions tailored to local contexts across Africa. Specifically, he showcased Velvet, our family of Large Language Models (LLMs) in Swahili.
He also introduced our project in support of the Judiciary of Tanzania, aimed at making the management of judicial proceedings increasingly efficient, fast, transparent, and sustainable, through the use of an automatic transcription and translation service for court hearings in the country’s major cities.
Additionally, he explained the collaboration with the African Development Bank, which seeks to significantly increase public access to official statistics while assisting African countries in enhancing the quality, transparency, management, dissemination, and exchange of data. These projects were developed to address the needs of African countries, aiming to demonstrate how generative Artificial Intelligence can support digitalization, improve public services, and foster local socioeconomic development. With initiatives like Velvet, we aim to offer tools that facilitate this path of growth and innovation.
