Almaviva and Almawave at the Film Business Award

15 April 2025

Our participation in the Film Business Award has come to an end — the annual event organized by Film Impresa, dedicated to awarding short films, micro shorts, and the best documentaries about Italian enterprises, held at the Casa del Cinema in Rome.

The Almaviva Group was present at the event, and specifically, Raniero Romagnoli, CTO of Almawave, took part in the April 11th panel “Artificial Intelligence: The State of Things. Enterprises Speak. The Application of AI in Today’s Business Practice.”

“We believe that artificial intelligence is already creating new job opportunities and professions. A major transformation is underway that could lead to more work and new capabilities. However, it must be accompanied by a sustainable ecosystem that supports it and enables the introduction of AI within educational pathways. Just ten years ago, no one would have imagined that the Faculty of Philosophy could be merged with the Faculty of Engineering. In Rome, at La Sapienza University, there is an Engineering Faculty that works on Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the Faculty of Philosophy,” said Romagnoli.

He added: “Velvet is our artificial intelligence model, launched almost three years ago and developed at Almawave. We’ve been working on language understanding and processing technologies — both written and spoken — for 15 years now, and with Velvet we’ve completed our technology journey. But in reality, it’s just the beginning: Velvet isn’t just one model, it’s already a family of models, and it will definitely evolve. The platform is Italian — developed in Italy — with an Italian ecosystem starting from ethics, to legal aspects, and collaborations with institutions and research labs.”
