Digitalization and innovation: Almawave takes center stage at the Africa Champion Program

Yesterday marked the second edition of the Africa Champion Program, a project promoted by SACE aimed at strengthening the economic partnership between Italy and Africa and supporting Italian companies seeking knowledge and tools to operate successfully in the priority countries of the Mattei Plan and seize business opportunities.

Several institutional actors participated, discussing future prospects and presenting their commitment to promoting a strategic, sustainable, and long-term approach to the growth of Italian companies on the African continent.

During the morning session, our CEO Valeria Sandei also spoke, sharing the company’s various success stories in these markets. In particular, Sandei highlighted how our projects in Africa demonstrate that generative Artificial Intelligence, represented by Almawave’s family of generative AI models, Velvet, can be a key lever to accelerate digitalization, improve public services, and support socio-economic development. Our presence in the country, consolidated over the years through strategic initiatives (such as with the Judiciary of Tanzania and the African Development Bank), combined with significant experience in applying Artificial Intelligence in the public sector in Italy, enables us to embrace this technological challenge with enthusiasm.

Almawave has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Information & Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC) of the United Republic of Tanzania, aimed at supporting the development and implementation of Velvet, our family of LLMs, in its Swahili version. This initiative will facilitate the adoption of advanced language solutions in the Public Administration, such as real-time translation and grammar detection tools.
